Director of Internal Communications, Director of Social Media
Role
Zoey collaborates with other members of the DM3P leadership and organizing team to support and grow the organization and to produce DM3P’s monthly events. She also assists the DM3P team with content and strategy for both internal communications and social media.
Motivation
Joining DM3P near its inception, Zoey finds herself in awe of the heterogeneous, kind, mutually supportive and creative community that DM3P has fostered over the years. She is dedicated to the continued growth and evolution of the DM3P community and to the organization’s growing place in the disability-in-medicine space and advocacy world. Zoey’s academic interests and personal passion for health policy grounded in disability equity undergird her work with DM3P.
Relevant Experience
Zoey is a PhD candidate at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her research explores work by disabled medical students and doctors to increase disability inclusivity in medicine across dimensions of representation, educational content, and national and institutional policy. She first came to DM3P early in her dissertation work, where she was encouraged and mentored by the core leadership team to whom she is forever thankful. She became a committed member and part of the leadership team.
Fun Fact
Zoey’s constant companion is a small black dog, Ziya, who joins Zoey for many daily walks and for the occasional anthropology department reception.
