Role

Aster Nguyen coordinates with other members of the curator team to help publicly release DM3P related media and recordings of past events. In addition to these responsibilities, they assist the social media team in releasing media and marketing for DM3P on social media platforms.

Motivation

Because of their lived experiences as a premed queer and chronically ill person, Aster joined DM3P to find community, mentorship, and ways to further help uplift other marginalized folks. The scarcity of support for marginalized students seeking a medical education that Aster personally experienced led them to have an interest in initiatives that foster mentorship and support in medicine.

Relevant Experience

They graduated from UCLA with a Bachelors of Science in Biology with departmental honors in 2023. Aster is currently applying to medical schools in the 2025 cycle. Much of their clinical work includes volunteering and working at facilities that serve and assist traditionally underrepresented populations, such as the LA LGBT Health Center.

Fun Fact

Beyond being a premed student, Aster is an avid horseback rider, aerialist, and musical theater aficionado.
