As a member of the DM3P Curation team, Ashleigh works to ensure all PowerPoint presentations and other documents are accessible. As a member of the Grants and Fundraising team, she locates and assists with writing grants that fund the day-to-day operations of the program.
Motivation
Since joining DM3P In March of 2023, Ashleigh has found a dedicated community of healthcare professionals with disabilities. They are working towards making health care for people with disabilities more accessible by including doctors, psychologists, social workers, etc., with disabilities in roles in the healthcare space. Through the organization, she has learned about different accommodations necessary to acquire licensure in a variety of fields, as well as common barriers practitioners with disabilities come across in their work.
Relevant Experience
Ashleigh is a master’s level licensed social worker with cerebral palsy with 3+ years of personal and professional experience assisting the disability community. She works around Chicago and nationwide with disability organizations to promote equality and equity for people with disabilities across healthcare and community services. She is dedicated to advocating for streamlining resource organizations so that the community can better understand the policies and processes that affect their daily lives. For these individuals to become more self-reliant, those with disabilities can have a more adaptive, productive future.
